The Institute of Telecommunications Professionals (ITP) is the UK’s leading independent telecommunications institution, founded in 1906. Our heritage goes back over 100 years when telecommunications was a new industry. Formerly know as the Institute of Post Office Engineers (IPOEE) and the Institution of British Telecom Engineers (IBTE) in the early 1980s. In recent years the ITP has widened its membership to include individuals and corporates from across the industry.

The ITP promotes the development of its members through Professional Registration, educates members of latest developments through The Journal, Podcasts and the ever popular ITP Seminar Series, as well as providing effective Networking Events.
The ITP currently has over 8,000 members representing more than 140 different organisations across the industry. Corporate members include BT, Alcatel-Lucent, Cable & Wireless, Global Crossing, Huawei, JDSU, SAS, Telcordia, Telent and Viatel.
The ITP collaborates with regulators, government associations and other leading bodies on various projects including Foundation Degree Forward. The ITP is currently collaborating on projects and sharing best practice with BT, EDS, O2, Openreach, Orange, NHS, Royal Signals and Vodafone and leading educational institutions such as the Open University (OU) and University College London (UCL).
