Oh What A Night! The ITP Annual Industry Dinner certainly lived up to its claims to be THE Telco Networking Event of the Year with close to 300 guests enjoying an evening of networking with some of the top names in the industry.  

The evening commenced with a champagne reception followed by a welcome from ITP Chairperson Lucy Woods who gave a brief overview of the ITP highlights for 2007 before introducing keynote speaker Andy Green, COO BT Group Operations & Strategy.

Andy’s speech included a candid account of how the telecommunications industry has developed throughout the years.   He also commented on the challenges to be faced in future.

Afterwards Andy and Lucy delivered the ITP Apprentice of the Year Award to Openreach engineer Nimesh Chauhan.  Nimesh beat fellow finalists Michelle Grandon (Openreach) and Ryan Jones (BT Operate) to win the prestigious award which celebrates the top apprentices from England, Scotland and Wales. “I haven’t yet got over the shock of winning this award but I think it will help spur me on in my career.” Nimesh later commented.

Following a splendid dinner of roast duck and chocolate raspberry parfait, the attention turned to guest speaker John McCarthy.  John gave a moving account of his time as a captive for five years in Lebanon, and explained how his experiences changed his perspective on life.

Afterwards, the networking continued late into the evening.
