A large group of telecommunications professionals gathered at the BT Centre for Beyond The Firewall: New Advances in Network Security. This ITP seminar was well received by the large group in attendance.
Brian Littlefair (Global Head of Security Research and Development, BT) delivered an informative presentation about the security challenges of today and tomorrow facing BT and its customers. Brian discussed the threats provided by Botnets, Web 2.0 attacks, mobility & convergence and unauthorised connections.
Carlos Solari (VP Security Research, Bell Labs) then delivered a presentation on security threats and the solutions Alcatel-Lucent can offer. Carlos discussed Bell Labs’ 4 part security strategy that guided R & D into online security solutions. Carlos gave candid accounts of his experiences working as chief security advisor to the FBI and US President George W. Bush.

Following the seminar, attendees discussed at length the security threats that they were informed about, many of which they were previously unaware of. Networking and discussion continued for quite some time afterwards.
