The prestigious Institute of Telecommunications Professionals Apprentice of the Year Award was presented at the Annual Industry Dinner in London. The expert judging panel of Mark Biffin, Dave Willett and Ian Dufour nominated three deserving apprentices for the award. They were Michelle Grandon (Openreach), Ryan Jones (BT Operate) and Nimesh Chauhan (Openreach).
Nimesh Chauhan was awarded the title of ITP Apprentice of the Year and was duly presented his trophy by Andy Green, in front of the hundreds in attendance. ITP Chairperson Lucy Woods revealed that the judging panel were impressed with the contribution he had made to BT in the past year - which included helping reduce costs by £250,000 during a secondment to the Midlands investment and efficiencies team.
Nimesh, who is studying for an HNC in business management, said: “I haven’t yet got over the shock of winning this award but I think it will help spur me on in my career.
His manager Chris Mullings said: “From the outset, Nimesh has shown the ability and the desire to succeed. Winning this award is a testament to him, his local team and the Openreach Academy.”
As the ITP's Apprentice of the Year Nimesh will receive two personal development training courses and an invitation to attend the FITCE 2008 Congress in Liverpool.
