2008 National Apprenticeship Awards

The National Apprenticeship Awards are held annually to celebrate the success of Apprentices who have made a real difference to their future and to the organisation they work for. They also recognise the work of employers who are successfully tackling skills shortages to build their future workforce through Apprenticeships.

To be eligible to enter Apprentices must be working towards, or have completed, an Apprenticeship or an Advanced Apprenticeship. All applicants must have been in Learning and Skills Council funded learning in April 2005 or started their Apprenticeship since April 2005.

The Apprentice of the Year Award seeks to acknowledge and celebrate apprentices’ exceptional contributions to their workplace. Judges are looking for apprentices that make a real difference to the organisation they work in by going beyond everyone’s expectations and delivering measurable benefits.

You might have introduced a new idea or initiative that has had a positive impact on the business, for example doing something that has improved procedures and systems, or made an important contribution to the development of a product or special project.

In particular, judges are looking for entries that demonstrate the following:

  1. Commitment to personal development and progression through learning.
  2. Outstanding contributions to the workplace, in particular areas or projects where expectations have been exceeded.
  3. Examples of achievement and attainment in learning and work.
  4. Inspirational qualities.

Winners will enjoy:

  • 'Apprentice of the Year' or 'Advanced Apprentice of the Year' Award status.
  • Recognition for your hard work through regional and national publicity.
  •  Up to £1000 worth of prizes for the winner.
  • £500 for the two Highly Commended entrants.
  • Invites for you and your family to attend an Oscar-style celebratory awards ceremony at the Royal Horticultural Halls in London on the evening of 10th July 2008.

If you feel that your contribution to the workplace has exceeded your employer’s expectations and resulted in measurable benefits, then an Apprentice Award could be the perfect opportunity for you to gain widespread recognition throughout the industry.

Register for the LSC National Apprentice of the Year Award and you will automatically be entered into the e-skills UK Sector Awards and The ITP Apprentice of the Year Award.
