Nimesh Chauhan receiving his award

Congratulations to Nimesh Chauhan of Openreach - Winner of The ITP 2007 Apprentice of the Year Award!

19-year-old Nimesh Chauhan was announced as the winner on Wednesday 24 October at the annual dinner at the Sheraton Hotel in London.

He was presented with the award by ITP chairman Lucy Woods and Andy Green, BT’s Chief Executive of Group Strategy and Operations Andy Green in front of a crowd of 300 guests.

Lucy Woods explained that Nimesh had impressed the judging panel with the contribution he had made to BT in the past year - which included helping reduce costs by £250,000 during a secondment to the Midlands investment and efficiencies team.

Nimesh, who is studying for an HNC in business management, said: “I haven’t yet got over the shock of winning this award but I think it will help spur me on in my career.

His manager Chris Mullings said: “From the outset, Nimesh has shown the ability and the desire to succeed. Winning this award is a testament to him, his local team and the OpenreachAcademy.”

The other two finalists were BT Operate engineer Ryan Jones and Openreach engineer Michelle Grandon
