ITP's Cross Industry Mentoring Programme

A recent survey indicates that over a quarter of ITP members would like to be involved in a mentoring scheme, either as a mentor or a mentee.

As a result, we have developed a unique cross-industry mentoring scheme available only to ITP members that partners more experienced professionals with those who are seeking to further develop their careers.

What makes ITP’s mentoring scheme distinctive is whenever possible we partner mentors with mentees from other organisations from the industry.

mbfThe ITP's Cross-Industry Mentoring Scheme has achieved Approved Provider Standard (APS) with the Mentoring and Befriending Foundation (MBF). APS is a national benchmark for organisations providing mentoring or befriending as a service. Supported by the Government, it aims to provide programmes with a badge of competence and safe practice in mentoring or befriending.

By achieving APS, the ITP cross-industry mentoring scheme has met the key management and operational requirements of the Standard and is designed to deliver a quality service.

If you are keen to further your career and think you might benefit from the insight and advice from someone with more industry experience then you may want to consider being mentored.

If you are interested in joining the mentoring programme, please email mentoring@theitp.org or telephone 01932 788861

Benefits of Mentoring

Mentoring encourages the mentee to:

- Look critically at his or her career and personal development in a safe but challenging external environment
- Put into place a career and personal development action plan and be held accountable for planning and ensuing deliverables
- To develop a trusting and professional relationship with the mentor that provides a long term benefit for both
- Understand the cultural similarities and differences within the industry in which they work

Mentoring also enables the mentor to develop his or her own influencing skills and knowledge.

Become A Mentor

Why not become a mentor and use your knowledge and experience to help someone develop their own career?

In addition to making a difference to someone who could benefit from your advice, mentoring also helps develop key management and influencing skills and is often as beneficial to the mentor as it is for the mentee.
