What are the benefits of Professional Registration?
Professional Registration sets you, as a professional engineer or technician, apart from your peers. It identifies you as a highly skilled ICT professional with advanced technical knowledge and competence and allows you to show your status through letters after your name for example, ICTTech, MITP.
It is an important career milestone for engineers and technicians in the ICT industry who want to be recognised worldwide for their expert skills and knowledge and allows you to plan your continuous professional development with real structure and direction. And, it can enhance career prospects as well as earning potential by boosting salary by up to £152,000 over a lifetime.

ITP members can apply for the professional registration through the ITP-IET member registration programme. Applications are assessed by the IET. If your application is approved you will then be elected to the Engineering Council register.

How does the registration process work?
If you are already an IET member please email your CV to registration@theitp.org, then a registration advisor will contact you to discuss your application.
Professional Registration is assessed on two levels - evidence of both competence and underpinning knowledge & understanding. As such a formal educational qualification may not always be necessary as applicants may be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding in alternative ways.

What are the costs involved?
Application fees and costs are payable at various stages throughout the registration process. Initial costs are circa £230 for IEng and CEng and circa £80 for EngTech and ICTTech. Annual membership fees are then payable to the ITP, IET and the Engineering Council. Failure to continue paying these annual fees will result in your registration being annulled.
