What is RITTech?

RITTech is a professional standard designed to recognise people doing a technical job well, whilst demonstrating professional behaviours, attitude and the value they bring.

It’s an independent standard of current competence and commitment to quality for those who earn it, the employer they work for and the customer they deliver to.

How much experience do you need to apply?

You may have been working in digital industries for several years, however we are not prescriptive about time, but you will need to have at least a year of experience under your belt. It is your current competence that matters to us the most.

How to apply?

You can use a simple online process which should take roughly one hour, although you can take it at your own speed.

You will need to have a supporter lined up as well, someone who knows your work well and can verify that what you’ve supplied us is a true reflection. Your application will be assessed alongside your supported verification, and a decision is made in a couple of weeks.

What does the online assessment involve?

The registration process for RITTech is far simpler than the others, and is broken down into three areas;

Experience

You will be asked to select the statement that most applies to the way you work across six different areas:

  • Autonomy
  • Business Skills-Planning, self management
  • Business Skills-Development and Learning
  • Complexity
  • Business Skills-Communication
  • Influence

Technical Knowledge

Selecting a specialism from the following areas;

  • Business analysis
  • Cyber intrusion analysis
  • Database
  • Digital Marketing
  • Digital Media Technology
  • Infrastructure Architecture
  • Infrastructure Support
  • IT Support (generalist)
  • Networking Engineer
  • Project/Programme support
  • Service Delivery
  • Service Deployment
  • Service Desk/Client Support
  • Software Development
  • Software Testing
  • Systems Engineering
  • Systems Integration

Supporting Evidence

More detail about their achievements.  The three questions that will need to be answered are;

  • Describe three things that have made you proud and which demonstrate your skills
  • Describe a piece of work requiring use of your technical skills, and what you’ve learnt from it
  • Give an example of how you have personally made a difference within a team delivery or project

You will then need to give details of a supporter – this should be a line manager or person in authority who has first-hand experience of your work and technical ability.

How long does it last?

Once registered, you won’t need revalidating for another three years.

                                                                                                                                                                         Go back

What happens once you’re registered?

You will get to use the postnominals RITTech after your name, and your name will be published on a public register (you can opt out if you wish). More importantly though, you can stand proud in demonstrating that you care about what you do, how you do it, and you have been independently recognised by your professional body for that.
