Hyperoptic - Field Operations Engineer Stage 1

The mission

Hyperoptic is more than just an internet service provider; it also installs its own fibre infrastructure into multi-occupancy buildings, bringing the UK’s fastest internet speeds to users.  Your mission is to be responsible for the development and ownership of the survey and design process as well as the execution of surveys for Hyperoptic in-building cabling infrastructure, producing designs, method statements and risk assessments and other related documentation to ensure successful deployment. Other activities will involve supporting Hyperoptic Field Operations Delivery Managers to ensure that best practices are followed by our 3rd party subcontractors to deliver a quality infrastructure installation efficiently in terms of cost and effort. We are looking for a responsible, experienced, highly skilled individual that would like to be part of building a successful broadband business.  With demonstrable breadth of technical experience, you’ll have the opportunity to play a key role in growth of the Hyperoptic Field Operations team and form a vital component in the future of Hyperoptic.

Responsibilities and duties will include:

  • Taking ownership of existing site survey process and carrying out continuous improvement to ensure a scalable and efficient process 
  • Performing and/or approving site surveys
  • Producing documentation to ensure an efficient and successful deployment (e.g. Site Survey, Method Statement, Risk Assessment, Designs)
  • Reviewing survey documentation to estimate time and costs of installation
  • Representing Hyperoptic on-site and being the conduit between the our partners/vendors and our customers
  • Monitoring and advising on-site engineers and sub-contractors
  • Performing and/or approving infrastructure installation site acceptance
  • Performing and/or approving Installation and Commissioning of Hyperoptic communications equipment
  • Contributing to on-site ‘best practice’ design

Person specification: (Essential and desirable)

3+ years of end to end structured cabling installation experience both on-site and in the office, including:

  • Performing site surveys,
  • Producing deployment related documentation to support installation 
  • Cable pulling and cable management
  • Installation and Commissioning of communications equipment
  • Completing handover / acceptance documentation

Experience in planning installation activities and creating resource estimates and Bill of Materials (BoW)

Comprehensive understanding of Construction & Engineering Health & Safety regulations

Understanding of the overall deployment delivery life-cycle from site survey to commissioning

Excellent communication skills

Excellent IT literacy (including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)

You are used to working in an organized way with strong focus on delivery in a timely manner.  You are a team player while also being able to take initiatives and solve problems on your own.

The role will be on-site based work.  The successful candidate will be offered a monthly salary and participation in a company incentive scheme.
