ITP Seminar - Ofcom - Technology in Regulation and supporting Innovation

Event Description

Join us as we delve into the fascinating world of Ofcom!

In our latest technical seminar, we’ll hear from subject matter experts on the work they do in telecoms, security and spectrum.

Ofcom is the regulator for the communications sector in the UK. Technology sits at the heart of the companies we regulate, and so we need to maintain our technical expertise to support the policy that we make. In this ITP seminar, join us to find out about our technical work in telecoms and media. We want to foster an environment where innovation flourishes, so we will also have a presentation from SONIC Labs, which is a collaboration between the Digital Catapult and Ofcom to test the interoperability of open, disaggregated and software-centric network solutions.

There will be the opportunity to visit our demo area during the breaks, where we will be demonstrating a variety of approaches that could be used for the hybrid delivery of broadcast and internet TV.

We’ll break for coffee and networking alongside device demonstrations from Ofcom’s technical team

In the second half of the morning, we’ll be hearing from the SONIC Labs team at Digital Catapult about their work to transform the UK’s telecommunications industry by leading global technology developments to create a more open, competitive and diverse supply market in the UK.

SONIC Labs is a world leading joint innovation programme between Digital Catapult and Ofcom, acting as a testbed to facilitate the development of Open RAN technology.
