Dr. Anasol Peña-Rios is a Distinguished Engineer at BT Group and a strategic innovation leader with over 20 years of experience in bridging applied research with emerging technologies. As a Research Technical Manager at BT, she leads research and innovation in emerging technologies, including AI and digital twins, to improve business operations and facilitate strategic digital transformation.

A winner of the 2020 TechWomen100 Award and a finalist for the 2025 ITP Telecoms Woman in Technology Award, Anasol is a Senior Member of the IEEE and has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications and multiple patents. She holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Essex.

In addition to her role at BT, she is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Essex and serves on several non-profit boards, contributing to governance and strategic leadership. Her board positions include the Immersive Learning Research Network, the IEEE Education Society's Technical Committee on Immersive Learning Environments and holds advisory positions for the Digital Twin Hub (Innovate UK Catapult Network) and the Creative Science Foundation. She is also a founding partner of a think tank focused on Generative AI and gender equality, reflecting her commitment to responsible innovation and inclusive leadership.
